Pakistan Geotechnical Engineering Society (PGES) in collaboration with the University of Wollongong Australia and UET Lahore Pakistan organized a 3-day event including 2 international conferences under the flag of International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and a sightseeing trip with foreign delegates from 5 to 7 December 2019.
Chairman of Water and Power Development Authority, Lt. General Muzammil Hussain was the Chief Guest of the event. Along with him Engr. Amjad Agha (President PGES), Dr. Tahir Masood (MD Nespak), Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid (Chairman PHEC), Dr. Aziz Akbar (Chairman Civil Engineering dept. UET Lahore), Prof. Buddhima Indraratna (Distinguished Professor at University of Wollongong, Australia), Prof. Eun Chul Shin (Vice President of ISSMGE for Asia), Prof. Askar Zhussupbekov (Former Vice President of ISSME for Asia), Prof. Ikuo Towhata, Dr. Tarunjit Butalia (Associate Prof. at the Ohio State University), Engr. Sohail Kibria, Prof. Khalid Farooq, Dr. Cholachat Rujikiatkamjorn ( Associate Prof. At University of Wollongong) and many more graced the event with their presence.
As the Stage Secretary of the event, I got to learn a lot from all the professionals. The two conference days were the days of elation after almost a year’s hard work, perseverance and dedication by the organizing committee members. Looking back at the time, reading those research papers of the presenters till late night, preparing the script for the event, the courage to succeed, maintaining a positive mindset despite getting sick just before the conference days, determination and faith to become and do something in life-all the hassle was worth it. I couldn’t be happier and privileged to be part of such an amazing event. Without any ambivalence, I’m delighted to share that the two conferences were AH successful. It was a great pleasure and honor for me meeting all international and national delegates. Looking forward to meeting them again.

That was a great event indeed. The pictures are depicting the presentations and research papers presented by the Local and international authors.
But there is an other aspect of the event which is not discovered by Organizers specially the persons who could not leave the stage for few minutes.
The well engineered 3D models of the Mega Hydropower Projects. The team from The Spatio made these models specially for the event and got a great response and appreciation from Chairman WAPDA, MD Nespak, industry profeionals and other guests/visitors. You should include the pictures of the stalls and 3D models as the part of this blog.
